Lesson 2 by James

This looked close when I drew it, but now everything looks off, and it is. I didn't really get to make many attempts this week, this was only my second or third. But everything needs to be shifted down on the face, and some stuff has to be fixed with the eyes. Ohhh yeah, and the mouth isn't the right shape either.

WOW!

James, I'm amazed at how quickly your progressing. I remember when I got that AHA moment on my first run through the lessons. My own drawings totally started improving. It really is like magic. Are you seeing improvement in your own stuff?

Yeah, there are some issues with your detail placing and the angle. Those can easily be fixed with a few more tries.

It's really great to see your progress, hope you stick around through the whole book.

Nice job, James. As David said, you're progressing quickly. The face has good proportion.

My advice would be to avoid the sketchy lines. I have a helluva time trying to break that bad habit, myself. It works ok when I trace the rough sketch again, but if I try to darken the sketchy lines they still mess with the overall look of the drawing.

I've been focusing on line quality a lot lately, if anyone else has some tips please let us know.

coming along nicely!

Make sure to measure everything as your going along.

Yeah, I did try measuring it, but obviously I was off by an inch or so. I was rushing near the end, but I don't think it turned out too bad. The overall head shape came out the right shape, because I was using all these fancy geometrical equations to get the perfect egg shape.

Ohh and yeah, the sketchy lines bug me to. I wanna know how people like Patrick and Gabrielle get there lines so clean. Maybe someone can make a post?

And one thing for you Caleb, print out the lesson pages right from photoshop. There will be an option to make it the whole page.
