Lesson 2 by Hammerson

This one was hard to do right, and it took me several attempts to get a really good grasp of the shape and the angle. In this example, it is very important to preserve the illusion of a fully rounded egg shape. In my first attempts, I had the tendency to cut off the bottom half (back of the head), so the whole character looked more like a mask instead of the egg. Here are the best two attempts (construction, cleaned-up pencil and comparison with PB original):

That second one makes me scream with joy, its almost completely perfect! Good eye mate!

Good tip on keeping the shape looking like an egg and not a mask! *revises his own drawings*

Great improvement in the second one. I think it's a good idea to add a few more construction lines for your own help.

These look great. You're very close with the thin to thick lines also.

Not much more to say.

You really are good at correcting your mistakes. That's the hardest part of these lessons, admitting you messed up and fixing it.

That practice is really going to put you up there with the greats!

Keep it up!
