Lesson 2 by Gabriele

Hey ya'al,

Knocked this out now, lemme know your thoughts.

I gotta say this was harder than i expected, i think its the angle, its so hard to see the proportions of the shapes when there is nothing around it. So i made a box in PS! Ha!

Also good to note is the fact that within the lines in the front and back of the head there are many triangles and quads that can be seen as shapes ( top left for example ) This really helped me break the proportions up.

The overlay is pretty good and i think i was happy with my second attempt.

Looks great. I like the idea of drawing a window box also.

Great looking shapes, Gabriele. Very helpful to see different stages as well.

Your line quality is really good, how big are you drawing the ovals? Any other tips you have on line work would be appreciated.

I suppose that depends on your views of 'line quality' :P The ovals here are about 6cm/2inches from the tip of the chin to the top of the head on the final.

My lines tend to be very loose, i don't like single lines, i tend to work first in blue then red then maybe pencil. I hear Tex Avery did like 5/6 different colours!

I'll include my methods with each lesson, i hope it helps!

Oh and thanks for the comments guys, good luck with your drawings!

That's good to know about Tex Avery, he has some of the most solid characters ever.

I use Prismacolor blue/red/black erasable pencils, are you using a similar type?
