UPDATE

I'm glad everyone is getting acquainted on this here blog.  As many of you have probably guessed, I invited people that comment and link their work on John K's blog.  John states that the Preston lessons are the only thing you need to become a great cartoonist.  I got to about lesson 5 and stopped.  I'm hoping that by having a support system we can slowly but surely get through the whole book.  I don't know how long it will take, but hopefully everyone here will stick around for the journey.

I wanted to bring up the subject of clean-ups.  I know a lot of members here are as eager as I am to perfect our inking skills.  I'm suggesting that after we get our best version of our lesson tries, we try to ink it.  We could post the best pencil side by side with the inks.  Learn 2 things at once.  Does this sound good.  I'm not sure if everyone here has a Wacom, but I'm sure a brush or pen  would be fine.  Please give feedback on this.

Thanks again for joining,
David Omar

I think it is a great idea to get people post there assignments on 1 site. So that people can find each other and off-course help each other.

But the site isn't going public?

Did you guys thinked about a forum?

We can't edit the posts. When we post we'll all need to start a new post.

I did want to do a forum. I'm not too computer savvy. If you know how to start one, I'm all for it. We could jump the blog over to a forum. Any ideas guys?

The blog isn't public because I think that if too many people post here, we will be swarmed and many people won't get the attention needed for their work. I think of this blog as a small studio or a small classroom. Where we all get to interact in a closer environment. Of course, any knowledge that you pick up here should be spread around to others. If we can organize or switch to a forum, I'm sure we could add more people.

James:

I guess we will post a separate post for each member. Just put the lesson number and your blog alias as the tittle. That way we can link to your blog and easily find the post in the archive here.

One possible setup would be to make the page public, but only authors can comment.

The options are under settings: comments tab and permissions tab.

We could always wait until we have more posts before going public, but you should be the only one that can make those changes.

If we take advantage of the "labels" function, we can categorize our lessons and view them all on one page. It might help keep things organized even though we each have to post separately.

We should label everything only 2 ways.

1) Our name/username ex. "James"
2) Our Lesson Number ex. "Lesson 5(A")

We should all do this the same way, this way we can compare how people are improving, and compare other users lessons.

Labels sound good, Jeremy. Let's try it like that.

Oh man this is gonna be so awesome,

I reckon make the page public and keep the number of people to a minimum, i'm just a little scared of too many posts by too many people, it'll start getting impersonal imo.
